Tour to Memphis

Memphis

Regarding Memphis:

Actually, Memphis was chosen as the first capital of a united Egypt. When King Menes united ancient Egypt more than 5000 years ago, he proclaimed Memphis as the new capital of the nation. Previously, it served as the capital of Lower Egypt. But today, thousands of years after Menes, practically all of the items in the outdoor museum date from the New Kingdom.

The Origins and Development of Memphis:

Actually, there are a number of historical hypotheses on Menes or Narmar. According to some scientists, Menes and Narmar were the same person. Others assert that Menes completed the majority of the tasks. In each instance, a great king overthrew the Pharaoh and seized the Nile Delta from Lower Egypt. After that, in the 31st century BC, he founded Memphis.

Memphis was chosen by Menes because of its advantageous location halfway between the two Egyptian kingdoms—the Lower Egyptian or Northern Kingdom and the Upper Egyptian or Southern Kingdom. However, Memphis' golden age began with the fourth dynasty's rule, specifically under King Djoser.

Geographical Location of Memphis:

Memphis is located around 22 Kilometers to the southwest of Cairo. In reality, it is close to several other intriguing historical sites, like Saqqara and Dahshur. This is precisely where Upper and Lower Egypt's border is located.

Memphis offers many interesting locations and activities:

The New Kingdom, which dates back more than 2000 years, is represented at Memphis' open-air museum. The most astounding exhibit is the enormous, stunning colossi of Ramses II, which is one of the largest statues in the world. Along with the well-known alabaster sphinx, numerous statues of the goddess Hathour, and numerous other
displays, there are also these.

Indeed Memphis is a place worth to visit but Egypt holds some other locations like Luxor and Qaitbay Fort . The List Does not End here. Read these Blogs to Know.
